Reading Simplicity from exampleessays.com reminded me of the end of last year during spices week. One particular part caught my attention, “Simplicity is believed to be the ability for one to express what is on his/her mind in a plain and orderly manner.” This caught my attention because it reminded me of meeting for worship. When someone speaks, we wait 1-2 minutes before another person speaks allowing people to think about what that person has just said. I can now see simplicity in meeting for worship. You listen, take it in and sort it out.

Now that I have a better grasp on simplicity and where I can find it, I can now see simplicity in my school. In how the teachers teach us and what they are teaching. Clean, clear, simple thoughts put together make a nice presentation whether verbal or visual. I get it now!

Simplicity can also be used in everyday activities. Whatever the situation, observe, listen and take a second to break it down into a clear picture. Simplify it and you’ll know how to react in a way that shows your true self. Simplicity is the ability to be yourself in everything you do. Simplify and be yourself.

I Believe

Whenever I’m away from my family I can not stop thinking about them, what are they doing, is everything alright etc. When I went to D.C. for an overnight trip I could not stop thinking about my family and what they were doing, wishing they were there with me so that we all could enjoy the museums and the National landmarks together. Although I was having a great time with my friends and enjoying experiencing something new, I always had my parents and my little sister in my mind. Then I realized they were probably at home thinking about me. Where is he, is he alright etc. since we were miles apart, only our phones could settle our minds. Allowing us to hear each other’s voices.
Family voices are calming sounds. I knew that it would be difficult, not being with them during these two days. At least I could communicate with them and let my family know that I was alright, I was thinking of them all the time, but I was also enjoying my trip. They asked me questions about my day and if I was having a fun learning experience. It I answered their questions and said I would call them in the morning, but I never got the chance. The day started so quickly, but ended so slow.
On the way home, it felt like the bus could not go fast enough for me. Gliding up the highway as if in slow motion. I sat in my seat having a snack that my mom had packed for me. She was nice enough to pack me small goody bags for my bus rides to and from Washington. Beside me I had gifts, ready for my parents and little sister Molly to open and see. There was a Little Einstein book about space for my sister, a pen for my dad, and a book for my mom. I also bought myself a pen as a souvenir of my Washington DC trip.
This is one example from my life that supports my belief that family is one of the most important assets of a happy life. Think about your life experiences and who was there to support you. I bet you come back to family.
